Identification of key problems of the manufacturing industry in the region based on the analysis of fixed assets (on the example of the Vologda oblast)

The purpose of the study was to identify the key problems of manufacturing enterprises related to the use of fixed assets in the production process. The information base was made up of data from the Federal State Statistics Service and its territorial bodies. The analysis was
based on general scientific (deduction, comparison, analysis, synthesis) and economicstatistical methods (average values, elementary methods of processing calculated data, index method). The Vologda oblast was chosen as the object of the study, which is characterized by
a high share of manufacturing industries in the region's industry. The analysis examined such indicators as the availability of fixed assets, the degree of their depreciation and renewal, capital productivity, capital intensity, capital strength and capital profitability, the ratio of the
growth rate of output and investment in fixed assets, and the indicator of savings or overspending of fixed assets. The results of the analysis have been identified such problems as a high level of deterioration of the means of production amid high demand for its modernization
and insufficient investment activity of enterprises to upgrade fixed assets. As part of improving the efficiency of their use, measures were proposed to activate investment processes in the industry by creating an innovation infrastructure that opens up the possibility of the region's
transition from a raw material orientation to the production of high-tech products. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the application of more accurate modifications of the indicators familiar in financial analysis, which allow us to conclude about the key problems that
